Help Our Island
Dear Friend,
During the past year, we hope you have been uplifted, inspired even healed by Sandy Tilton’s photographs of the natural beauty of Plum Island. We hope you have been informed and perhaps entertained, by Bill Sargent’s books
about the island. And we hope you have appreciated all of Andy Griffith’s tireless work that has made Plum Island Outdoors possible.
But now it is Plum Island itself that needs your help. As I write this letter the winds are starting to howl from the third of the three March storms.
High tide is fast approaching and we have watched as ocean waves have reduced Plum Island’s glorious forty-foot high dunes to small ragged cliffs standing only a few inches over your head.
Sadly we have also watched as eight-foot high waves washed over the beaches and under the houses of Northern Reservation Terrace. So now it is our turn to give back to the island we love.
We hope you will consider donating whatever you feel you can afford to help support the rebuilding of a system of natural dunes to protect Plum Island Point. We use PayPal for Online Donations. Please click here, thanks!
Your tax exempt donation will be used to continue to educate the public about the importance of this model project and to provide assistance in planting the dunes and removing trash from the public lands on both ends of the island.
You will automatically become a member of Plum Island Outdoors which will make you eligible for 10% discounts on all of our books, beach walks, and photographs.
So stay safe, be strong, and we look forward to seeing you in calmer weather!
Best,
Sandy Tilton
Bill Sargent
Andy Griffith
