PLUM ISLAND & SEA LEVEL RISE – Part 2, Fiscal Implications and Discussion of Next Steps

June 3, 2021 @ 6:00 PM8:30 PM

This Thursday, June 3, is the second of two virtual meetings for a project addressing the fiscal and economic implications of sea level rise on Plum Island by consultants for the Town of Newbury and the City of Newburyport. The project is supported by a FY20-21 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Action Grant awarded to the Town of Newbury by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The first meeting, Plum Island and Sea Level Rise, presented the background information necessary to understand the meat of the June 3 meeting on the fiscal implications of sea level rise. It was recorded and it would be a good idea to watch it prior to watching the second meeting. Click here to watch.

Thursday’s meeting will present the results and main takeaways from the fiscal and economic analysis and focus heavily on public discussion of next steps. What do Newbury and Newburyport need to consider for future planning on the island?

All are welcome to attend this 90-minute meeting.

For more information on the project or to contact the project team with any questions, please go to: PlumIslandSeaLevelRise.com
